I started working at a cellphone company when I was 16, went to college for 5 years didn’t really like it - dropped out. Started working remotely for a video game company in the EU for 6 months, then they filed for bankruptcy. Move from Colombia to the US and have been working 6 months in the management side for a new construction company. For my first 3 months I’ve been working as an administrative assistant/ personal assistant for our executive project manager helping him with everything he needs and not shying away from any responsibilities. And now for next 3 months I’ve started to mainly manage our field guys that do the hard labor people, tell them where they’re going, what they’re doing, setting them up for as much success as I can in my hands. I also do submittals, do RFI’s, read contracts, have to know how to read both architectural and engineer drawings, I’m the main guy for our warranties, troubleshoot any problems my guys have on the field. Speak, call and email general subcontractors, I’m also completely in charge of survey points, the maintenance management, work orders, pre planning and above all I help my PM by spotting out and checking potential obstacles we might have in the future and avoiding them. We’re managing more then 20 projects at the same time, which means he might forget a thing or too but that’s where I come in because I’m always on my A game making sure nothing gets missed, making sure everyone’s doing their job and making sure we have everything for the next phase.
