Epic work fails
Sent an email and forgot to add the only group who had an action item
I sent a UF prewire survey out and andded the PM team, local HR, etc. I forgot, however, to add all the UF recipients. Didn't realize until about a week before the cycle end. I learned to check, then check again, then check AGAIN all my communications, and not just focus on the content. The message itself was excellent, but the whole thing was terrible because it never reached its audience.
Full storyWhen I'm stressed, you might notice me…
Not talk or join in conversation. Work without breaks. loud typing.
Give me some time to think on my own, then try to engage in conversation.
Full storyTeammates might misunderstand me as...
a know-it-all (the obnoxious kind, not the cool kind that I obviously am)
I like to learn everything I can about a subject and then share it with people when they need help. But sometimes it is unsolicited, they might want to figure out something on their own. Or sometimes I talk over others to get the info out. Or sometimes it keeps me from hearing what others are truly trying to communicate.
Full storyThings I'd love to learn
Pottery, Indian food, large-scale data modeling, SQL, a third language
Pottery as a creative (but practical) outlet Indian food because I want to read through a menu and understand what everything is, regardless of the region. I want to learn more about the history and cutlure Data Modeling ans SQL because I like control. Data modeling can identify most likely outcomes and drive decisionmaking with confidence. AQL because it can be used to write my own programs, so I can understnad exactly how a model works. A third language, because I want to live in other countries for long periods of time, to the point where it becomes commonplace. My frontrunners are Italian, Tagalog, German, Madarin.

I don't like to have people hovering over me, handholding through each step. If I have questions or issues, I'll reach out.
Full storyMy areas for growth
I think I know how to make myself work harder and perform to the best of my abilities. I want to help others achieve the same, and understand how to build a team so that we can achieve even greater accomplishments together. I think that working with an attitude of "it's not all about me" would lead to new experiences, new relationships, and more fulfillment from the work I do.
Full storyMy superpowers
I want to solve everyone's problems. It may not be immediate, but ultimately I'll find the best solution to make someone's job easier, and I want to talk to people about their work, what is going well, and what the most frustrating aspects are. This naturally leads me to look into all types of solutions, from changing a process, finding modern tools that fit the situation, and building things from scratch to give a team complete control. I try to put myself in other peoples' shoes and think about how I'd feel about the work if I was doing XYZ every day (this also drives my need to know everything about a topic, to find better ways of doing things). Once I have an idea, I work on building a plan to achieve it. I break things down into small, manageable pieces, so the work doesn't feel so overwhelming. Somethings take little time and effort, others require more investment from myself and those around me. I can make decisions confidently, even with little information, when I know it is leading towards a broader goal.
